Oct 1677: Dorothy Hoyt was called into court for putting on man's apparel and made default, she having gone out of the county. Her father, John Hoyt, appeared and owned the fact, manifesting Dorothy's repentance, and desiring to fall under the penal part of the sentence. It was ordered that she be apprehended as soon as she returned, and be severly whipped unless her father forthwith pay a fine of 40x in corn or money [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p579]

Mr John Barnard administrator to ye Estate of Serjt John Hoyt Late of Almsbury Decd Intestate appeared & made Oath that he by Virtue of sd power of administration nether Directly nor Indirectly hath never made any use or taken any possession of ye Any of sd Decd or n any Wise Acted as an admr on ye Estate of sd Decd, yr being no Estate to e found but what was otherways Disposed & not Capable of being admrd upon.
