Sep 14 1669: John and his son, John Jr, sold to William Osgood and William Barns the use of housing and land belonging to John Jr in Amesbury for the use of the ministry of Salisbury [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p579]

Mar 25 1672: sold to son John some meadow land in Amesbury [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p579]

Oct 1677: Dorothy Hoyt was called into court for putting on man's apparel and made default, she having gone out of the county. Her father, John Hoyt, appeared and owned the fact, manifesting Dorothy's repentance, and desiring to fall under the penal part of the sentence. It was ordered that she be apprehended as soon as she returned, and be severly whipped unless her father forthwith pay a fine of 40x in corn or money [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p579]

death is given in Probate Files as 28 Feb 1687/8, which coincides with the town record. Why ten years elapsed before action was taken on his estate is not shown by the records [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p580]

May 8 1697: administrator appointed to settle the estate. [10 years later!!]
"Administration of all & Singuler the goods Chattels rights and Credits of Sargnt John Hoyt Senr, late of Almsbury decd, granted vnto John Barnard Son in law of the decd, he having giuen bond with Surety for his administration according to law. The Relict of the Said Hoyt having Signifyed vnder her hand in Writing her Renounciation of the Same, & desired that it might be Confered upon the said Barnard." [Ref: HoytDW HOYT p20]

Nov 2 1706: "Before he Honblt John Appleton Esqr of ye probate of Wills &c in said County. Mr John Barnard administrator to ye Estate of Serjt John Hoyt Late of Almsbury Decd Intestate appeared & made Oath that he by Virtue of sd power of administration nether Directly nor Indirectly hath never made any use or taken any possession of ye Any of sd Decd or n any Wise Acted as an admr on ye Estate of sd Decd, yr being no Estate to e found but what was otherways Disposed & not Capable of being admrd upon. Wherefore ye aid Ltt John Barnard is hereby fully & clearly Dismissed from his said as administrator as aforesd" [Ref: HoytDW HOYT p20]
