Research Notes:
during her widowhood, Mary had carried on a serious flirtation with Thomas Tukesbury of Newbury, and after her second marriage this affair was aired in the courts, apparently at the instigation of Richard Martin's parents, after the manner of the times. In the deposition in the case, Susanna Martin calls her daughter-in-law's father and mother "brother" and "sister", and their daughter Naomi "cousin," which may indicate a blood relationsh between the Martin and Hoyt families.
