Will of Jacob Schumacher, Fairfield Co, Ohio, File Box 1588:
In the name of God, Aman, I Jacob Shoemaker, of Fairfield County in the
State of Ohio, being in good health and of a sound mind do make and publish
this my last will and testament.
First it is my will that all my just debts, funeral expenses and costs of
administration be paid out of my personal estate by my Executor herein after
named.
Secondly I leave and bequeath unto my dear wife Magdalena Shoemaker four
hundred dollars in money out of my personal estate, also such parts of my
house hold and kitchen furniture, bed and beding and live stock as she may
think proper to select and keep out of my personal estate during her natural
life -- and after her decease my will is that all the said money and property,
or so much thereof as may be left, shall pass over and be equally divided
amonst my four daughters herein named--and further I leave and bequeath unto
my said dear wife the five acres shuger camp being part of the Southeast
quarter of Section 19 in Township 12 and Range 20 in said County during her
natural life and after her decease my will is that this said five acres shall
pass over and be the property of my son Daniel Shoemaker herein after
named--also my wish is that the quarter section of land whereon I now reside,
being the NW 1/4 of Section 32 t 12 in Range 20 which myself and wife have
sold and conveyed unto my son Daniel- by Indenture under date the 18th day of
January 1826 that my said dear wife may reside thereon during her natural
life--agreeably to a written contract to that effect with the said Daniel.
Thirdly in consideration of the land and other property that I have already
gave unto my son Henry Shoemaker I leave and bequeath unto my said son Henry
my large Bible, my fan mill, Harrow & Crosscut saw.
Fourthly In consideration of the land and other property which I have
already gave unto my son Daniel Shoemaker I give and devise unto my said son
Daniel his heirs and assigns forever the Shugar camp of five acres before
mentioned--being part of the southeast quarter Section No 19 T12 in Ranger No
20 Situate in said County under the encumberance of his mother as
aforesaid--also I leave and bequeath unto my said son Daniel one bay mare, my
waggon and one set of horsegears and my two large books--
Fifthly In consideration of the monies and other property which I have
already gave unto my four daughters, Magdalena, Catharine, Mary and Rebecca, I
leave and bequeath unto them my said four daughters equally between them all
the rest and remainder of my personal estate to be divided between them
forthwith after my decease also the money and other property left to my dear
wife, as aforesaid or so much thing as may be left at the time of her decease.
I leave and bequeath unto my said four daughters equally between them-- and my
wish is that there be no public sale made of my personal property but divided
between my said four daughters as aforesaid and by lot by two disinterested
men say John Valentine and David Kinnear.
Sixthly and lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my dear son the said Henry
Shoemaker to be the sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament
