945: King Edmund of England granted Strathclyde to Malcolm, after ravaging it, and whatever agreement they entered into was renewed by Edmund's brother and successor, Eadred, in 946. The upshot of this agreement seems to have been cooperation with the English in wresting Northumbria from Viking rule [Ref: Michael Davidson SGM 10/23/1995]
