honored with monuments Ramses II, Ramses III, Ramses VII, which excludes the possibility of being the son of Ramses VIII [Ref: Settipani LGA p172]

ancestry is obscure. on the basis of the naming of one of his sons, it has been suggested that his father might have been Mentuhirkopshef, making Ramesses IX the nephew of Ramesses VIII [Ref: Dodson Egypt p191]

named eldest son Montouhirkopshef, who was an obscure son of Ramses III. Only rational explanation is that he was the son of this prince. This also takes in account Takhat being royal mother without being royal spouse, and Baktouernel being royal spouse without being royal mother [Ref: Settipani LGA p172]

Kitchen has suggested that Ramses IX was the son of prince Montuhirkhopsef, son of Ramses III, since he has a son of the same name, but the current excavator of Montuhirkhopsef's tomb disputes this. [Ref: Chris Bennett SGM 10/23/1995]

no evidence is known to indicate the relationship betwen the final three kings, Ramesses IX, X, and XI. If they were a father-son succession, Tyti, who bears the titles of King's daughter, King's Wife and King's Mother, would seem a good candidate for the wife of Ramesses X, but little else can be discerned. Some royal blood may have passed into the 21st Dynasty, suggested by the son and grandson of Pinudjem I bearing the names Ramesses-Pasebkhanut (King Pasebkhanut I) and Ramesses-Ankhefenmut. The link canonly be Pasebkhanut's mother, Henttawy, who bears a range of titles including that of King's Daughter [Ref: Dodson Egypt p191]
