Research Notes:
High Priest of Amun [Ref: Dodson Egypt p200]
much of his pontificate was spent campaigning against the renegade
Viceroy of Nubia, Pehehsy, form which period survive a number of letter
written by Piankh, his family and associates, known as the late ramesside
Letters [Ref: Dodson Egypt p208]
Oracle in Piankh's favour is recorded in a text at Karnak, while a stela is
known from Abydos (Cairo), plus inscriptions in the Khonsu temple at Karnak
and a restoration text on the mummy of Ramesses III [Ref: Dodson Egypt p208]
Key figure in origins of 21st Dynasty is High Priest Piankh, a man of uncetain
antecedents; however, given the appearance of Libyan names amongst his
descendants - and also amongst the children of his military-priestly
contemporary, Hrihor - it is likely that Libyan mercenaries were amongst his
ancestors. [Ref: Dodson Egypt p197]
