King of Armenia [Ref: Mommaerts chart-Sasanids]

according to Armenien Marcellin, Arsakes II was contemporary of Romen emporer Julien, and was blinded by the Persians. According to P'awstos, Tiran was contemporary of Julien and was blinded. According to P'awstos, emperor Valens battled Nerseh after death of Tiran. In reality, battle was in 297. These lead to lack of confidence in text of Armenien historiens [Ref: Settipani LGA p56]

novelistic text given by P'awstos on the subject of King Arshak. Arshak has put to death his nephew Gnel on the faith of accusations of another of his nephews, Tirit, that was in love with Pharandzem, the spouse of Gnel. Arshak discovers the trickery thanks to Pharandzem, has Tirit executed. Arshak took Pharandzem as concubine. But he detested her, and demanded of the emperor another spouse, who sent him Olympias. Olympias was daughter of the former Prefet Ablabius, and lately fiancee of Constantius. Pharadzem, meanwhile, bore a son (Pap), and poisoned Olympias. ... (result was exile of 9 years of the patriarch from death of Gnel) [Ref: Settipani LGA p64]

dates just don't fit, since Pap was born abt 352, not 359. Therefore it is necessary to reject certain data. Solution recently proposed is that Arshak had first spouse Pharandzem, then gave her to his nephew, then took her back. Complicated conspiracy, difficult to comprehend by later Christian historians leading to their confusion. [Ref: Settipani LGA p65]
