historian Eghishe dedicated his work to Dawith Mamikonian, but exact date written is unclear, either 6th or 7th century [Ref: Settipani LGA p47]

reasons for placement in family (1) onomastic agreement - Dawith father of Grigor, Moushehg, and Hamazasp, while general Moushegh had brothers Grigor and Hamazasp. (2) legend of Taron gives Moushegh as ancestor of the later Mamikonian; Hov'annes Mamkonian said twice that he lived under the 32nd descendant (3) after the death of the last prince of Taron, Tiran, in 636, the succession of the title of chief of the family passed to the descendants ofDawith: Moushegh or Hamazasp, indicating they were nearest relatives of Tiran. Thus, Dawith was almost certainly a descendant of Moushegh; chronologically probably a grandson rather than a son. [Ref: Settipani LGA p48]
