The death of NICHOLAS POYNTZ just prior to 12 July 5 Edward ii. (1311) resulted in the following:
-12 July a writ was issued for an Inquistion on his lands, the Escheator ordered that his lands be taken into the king's hand.
-28 July Custody of Nicholas' lands was ordered to be delivered to Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Gloucester and Hertford.
-3 August a Grant was made to William le Latymer of custody of the lands and the marriage of the heir.
-9 October Custody of the lands and marriage of the heirs was sold to Hugh le Despenser for 500 marks.
-21 October Custody of the lands and heirs was sold to William Rydel for 700 marks.
-18 December a Grant of custody and marriage of the heir was made to William le Latymer for 700 marks.
-19 December Acquittance for 700 marks was given to William Rydel.
-20 December Remission was made to William le Latymer for 400 marks of the fine of 700 marks which he made to the king.
-7 October 7 Edward ii.(1313) William le Latymer offered Joan, daughter of John le Latymer in marriage to Henry Poyntz, heir of Nicholas Poyntz.
-28 July 8 Edward ii.(1314) John le Latymer had previously been given custody of the lands until Hugh was of full age by reason of a demise made to him by William le Latymer.
-12 February 10 Edward ii.(1317) Hugh Pointz was given seisin of his father's lands having proved his age before the escheator.
-1 April 10 Edward iii.(1336) Joan, daughter of Hugh Poyntz, was granted 10 li. rent yearly as a charge on the manor of Stoke St. Edward Dorset. [Ref: Tony Ingham SGM 11/8/1998]
