1442: brought an action against Sir Richard Vernon over the manors of Shotesbrok and Eton Hastyngs, co Berks. This was the first of a decade-long series of legal disputes between Trussell an dVernon over rights of inheritance. Sir William maintained that these were Trussell manors which had been held by Sir Fulk de Penbrugge in right of his Trussell wife. Sir Richard claimed that they were Penbrugge manors and belonged to him as grandson of Sir Fulk de Penbrugge's sister and heiress. The Berkshire jury awarded the manors to Sir William with 120 marks damages. Sir Richard appealed the case to the King's court, where Sir William eventually prevailed and on 1 May 1446 personally appeared in court an acknowledged satisfaction of his damages.
