Research Notes:
first assessed for support of the ministry in 1657, apparently about the time
he became of age [Ref: WheelockDE WHEELOCK pB6]
in 1676, when King Philip's war broke out and the Indians made a raid on
Medfield, Gershom's house was burned, but he later built another on the same
spot. None of the family was killed as they all escaped to the house of his
father, which was heavily barricaded and withstood the seige. [Ref: WheelockDE
