Research Notes:
1192-1205: Philip de Valognes gave to him and Sibyl and the heirs of their
bodies the vill of Torpenhow, Cumberland [Ref: Farrer EYC v9p16]
1212: holding the vill of Torpenhow of the king by cornage, rendering 24s
yearly; and it was recorded that it had been of the barony of Alice de
Rumilly, and that as Reginald de Lucy who formerly held the land with Alice's
sister refused the homage of Philip de Valognes, antecessor of Robert and his
wife, king Henry II took his homage, and its service, therefore, was in the

Trinity term 1212: with Nicholas his father and others, he was found not
guilt of disseisin of a tenement in Cottingham [Ref: Farrer EYC v9p16]
