Jun 1538: that the marriage of James V to Mary of Guise took place in June 1538 is clear from all sources. Paul, editing the Treasurer's Accounts (p.lxxv) says that the marriage took place on 11 June, the day after Mary's arrival, and Bingham agrees. However, the account in SP says only Jun 1538, and Watson says "after 12 June". It is surprising that there is not a contemporary account of the ceremony at St Andrews to settle the matter [Ref: Thompson CharlesII v02-164(14)]
