Research Notes:
1 May 1336: John de Molyns, a royal official, agreed to pay 200 marks for his custody and marriage; the grant included those lands assigned to Isabel in dower [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p24]

24 Apr 1340: seisin of his father's lands, having proved his age [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p24]

20 Apr 1340: received a license to enfeoff Robert de la Hay, a parson, with his manors of Wodhull and Langford and with the reversion of Pateshull, thenheld in dower by Isabella, who in turn regranted the manors to John and his wife Eleanor in tail, remainder to the heirs of John. This meant that should John die when his heir was a minor, these manors would not be taken into the king's custody during the heir's minority but would be held by his widow [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p24]

12 Nov 1346: named as a Knight when he paid 20 marks in lieu of providing two men-at-arms [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p24]

died 31 Oct 1348, and the circumstances of his death are known from the writ sent by the royal council from Sandwich 2 Nov 1348: Commission to Guy de Seyntcler, sheriff of Cambridge, and Robert de Brigham, mayor of the town of Cambridge, to find by inquisition on the oath of men of the county of Cambridge, as well of the town of Cambridge, if necessary, as of other parts, who were the men who assaulted at Cambridge John de Wodhull, "chivaler", and the men at arms and archers of his retinue, when these were coming to the king for the furtherance of important business, and Henry de Tangemere, under-sheriff of the county, and other of the king's bailiffs and ministers thereof, killed the said John, assaulted and atrociously wounded Henry and the others, and plundered him of very great sums of the king's money and very many writs directed to the sheriff aforesaid, and who afterwards received these evildoers well knowing of the felony, and all other circustances relating to these felonies and misdeeds. Sir Henry de Colvill was charged with the crime and one week later, on 9 November, the king and council sent to the constable of the Tower of London: Order to receive Henry de Colvill, knight, whom Guy de Saintcler, sheriff of Cambridge, will deliver to him, and have him kept safely in irons in a secure place in the Tower, so that no one may have conference with him without the special order of the king or his council, until the king has ordered his release. A year later, on 15 Dec 1349, Henry de Colevill, "chivaler", received a pardon for the death of John de Wodehll, "chivaler", "whereof he is indicted or appealed, and of any consequent outlawry." The pardon was restated in 1351. [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p25]
