Research Notes:
1348: having been jointly seised with her husband, she was given custody
of hi slands [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p25]
7 Mar 1348/9: she granted to her father and mother 500 pounds a year from
these lands and in addition agreed to pay them 1000 pounds by the
following Easter. These sums are many times the revenue of the Wodhull lands.
By getting his daughter to agree to such impossible debts, John de Molyns
seems to have insured control over her marriage. Jan 1349/50 Molyns stipulated
that his daughter Eleanor was bound to him "in divers sums of money by
annuities, bonds, recognisances and other ties made by her to him" which would
be null if John de Trailly of co Bedford paid him 220 pounds. A prospective
marriage, though not mentioned, could have been a reason for Trailly to pay
Molyns to have these debts cancelled. Such debts would have sharply dimished
her value on the marriage market. There is no evidence, however, that Eleanor
ever took a second husband. [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p25]
5 Oct 1363: released to her son John the manors of Langford, Wodhull and
Pateshull; he agreed to pay her 100 marks yearly [Ref: Hansen Wodhull p26]
