Research Notes:
The information obtained as of July 15, 1987 and applicable to George W. Hendricks and his wife and children was received from Inez Viola Hendricks Sattler, daughter of William & Elizabeth Hendricks. Inez resides at 7174-40th Place N., St. Petersburg, FL. By April of 1994, Inez and the Compiler, John S. Hendricks, met for the first time when she and her husband, Guy Sattler, drove to the East Coast of Florida (Barefoot Bay) and spent a day "reuning" and reminiscing. At the time of that visit, Inez provided many old photographs of common ancestors including an 1890 photo of George Hendricks and Catherine Settlemoyer. The photograph was taken when George was 67 and Catherine was 56. The photographer was the studio of McMahan & Irland in Danville, Pennsylvania. [Ref: John Hendricks 12/14/1995]

The 1850 Census (enumerated 11 Oct 1850) showed Catharine "Hendricks", 18 years of age, was still living in the household of John Zettelmeyer & his wife Catharine. At this time, Catharine was already married to George Hendricks and apparently had given birth to their first child, Lucetta who was listed as 10 years of age in the July 1860 Census information. It should also be noted that the July 1860 Census shows the "John Zettelmeyer" and the "George Hendricks" household as 91 and 92; the "Family" order was 99 and 100. An 1860 township map shows "G Hendrix" family situated immediately adjacent to and slightly north of the family farm of "J Zettelmoyer" in Albany Township, Berks County. At the time of the 1860 census, George was listed as a "Day Laborer". The 1870 census for Albany Township, #138, listed George Hendricks as 48 years of age and a stone mason. Catharine was listed as 37 and by 1870, Lucetta and John were now gone and the children at home were listed as: Michael 17, George 13, Jacob 11, Joseph 10, Hannah 9, Mary 6, Catharine 2 and Sarah 8 months. George and Catharine removed from Albany Twp, Berks County to Riverside, North'd County, PA where they lived out their lives. He died at 80 years and she died at 67 years, 11 months, 29 days. A photograph taken about 1890 in Danville, PA by McMahan & Irland (George about 67 & Catherine about 56) shows George to be a tall, gaunt, thinly-haired man with facial features similar to those of many of his descendants. Catherine appeared stern, buxom and rather overweight. A short woman, she was unsmiling in the photograph. [Ref: John Hendricks 12/14/1995]
