James Hendricks' obituary read as follows (Wednesday, June 5, 1935)
"Stricken by Heart Attack Near Auditorium--James Hendricks Drops Dead in Street"
James Hendricks, 62, of 2341 Winfield Way NE, (Canton, Ohio), dropped dead on Wednesday night as he walked to his automobile near City Auditorium.
Mr. Hendricks, a heater at the Republic Steel Corp., had driven to the auditorium to meet Mrs. Hendricks and a friend who had attended McKinley High School commencement exercises at the auditorium. A heart attack was the cause of death, Coroner T. C. McQuate said.
Mr. Hendricks had been a Canton resident more than 20 years and was a member of the Men's Bible Class at the First Baptist church. He leaves his widow, Mrs Florence Hendricks; a stepson; a brother, William Hendricks of Canton, and a sister, Mrs. Miles Mottern of Philadelphia.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home in charge of Rev J. H. Satterfield. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. [Ref: John Hendricks 12/14/1995]
