the people of Dal Riata had gone through a period of domination by the Picts under their powerful king Onuist, son of Urguist, who die din 761. Aed Find was the first king of Dal Riata to emerge from the obscurity following Onuist's domination, and there does not seem to be any good reason to regard the thirty year reign given to him by Duan Albanach as being accurate [Ref: HenryII aed00000 4/26/2007]

re-established independence from Pictish overlordship, and the kingship of Dal Riata, when the Picts were defeated by the Strathclyde British in 750. [Ref: Michael Davidson SGM 10/23/1995]
