Research Notes:
one of the grantees of Quabog, now Brookfield, but did not settle there [Ref: Perley HOVEY p25]

not "coming to reside" in Brookfield, his lands were re-granted to John Chadwick of Watertown, who sold the same in 1687 to Peter King of Sudbury. [Ref: Waite BrookfieldMA p339]

lived in Hadley as early as 1672, and was a yoeman and a prominent man in the town. He served as representative to the general court in 1699 and 1703 and was a lieutenant in the militia [Ref: Perley HOVEY p25]

Joseph Barnard brought a suit against Thomas Hovey on Mar 25 1672-3 for "unjust molestation". Records in probate office at Northampton, MA, vol 1 page 144, quoted in [Ref: Perley HOVEY p25]

Thomas Hovey was bound over by the commissioners of Hadley for resisting the constable of Hadley and fined twenty shillings in 1676. Records in probate office at Northampton, MA, vol 1, page 179, quoted in [Ref: Perley HOVEY p25]

admitted freeman in the court at Springfield, MA, Sep 27 1681, and as sworn in the court at Northampton Mar 28 1682 [Ref: Perley HOVEY p25]
