Worcester Co. Land Records, Book X, p416, 1718: James Sen of Mendon and Sarah his wife, give land to his son Joseph, of Reading, land inherited from his father, the Rev. Joseph, of Mendon [Ref: EmersonPH EMERSON-1898 p25]

died intestate; brother John Emerson administers his estate in Falmouth, York Co, Maine. Inventory is given in Worcester Probate Records, Book V, p151, 1745, and in Worcester Land Records Book XXXVIII, p330, there is a deed registered, dated Feb 1747-8, in which Hames Emerson and John Emerson of Uxbridge (formerly Mendon), Ebenezer Emerson of ___, and Nathaniel Emerson of Douglas, and Elizabeth Taft, sell their brother Joseph of Reading's portion for 500# to David Taft, thus proving James was a wealthy man [Ref: EmersonPH EMERSON-1898 p25]
