Bought a tract of land in Washington County, PA, adjoining on the north his brothers, James and Thomas. He bought this on Apr 27 1786 from Archibald McNeal and had it surveyed on August 1 that year on McNeal's Virginia Certificate. McNeal had made a settlement there in 1775. William and wife, Mary, sold this tract in 1790 to William Cotton. [Ref: Bell BYERS-87 p6]

Sold land adjacent to Samuel Byers Jr, on Jan 4 1792 [Ref: Bell BYERS-87 p16]

Warranted another tract of land east of his brother Samuel Jr in 1793. He had sold it earlier to Michael Kuntz, but Kuntz died before it became warranted. In 1803 this farm was patented by the Kuntz executors. The estate papers of Kuntz report that William Byers then "lived down the (Ohio) river." This "down the river" indicates William was in Kentucky. In fact, William moved his family from Washington County, PA, to the area of Maysville, Kentucky, about 1794. [Ref: Bell BYERS-87 p6]
