1800: Tax returns indicate that he lived in Windsor Township at that time.

1801: With William and William Stump they journeyed to Ohio. They rode as far
as the "Pickaway Plains" A half section of land was selected and the purchase
completed at Chillicothe. [Ref: Burkhardt BOUCHER p97]
1804: after Ohio had been admitted to the Union, Jacob and William and
families started for the new home. They built a log cabin at a place only a
few feet away from where now stands the residence of Jacob's grandson, Jacob
L. Bowsher, near Adelphia, Ohio, in what is now Coleman Township, Ross County.

When the War of 1812 was being waged Jacob entered the service of a Ross
County Company. [Ref: Burkhardt BOUCHER p97]
Jacob was a cabinet maker, and in addition to overseeing his farm he built the
coffins, cider mills, cider presses, fanning mills, furniture, and many
machines of wood that were ingenious in those days. The products of his skill
were much needed by his countrymen as they were far removed from any towns or
cities where such articles were made.

To all Whom These Presents Shall Come, Greeting:
Know ye, that Jacob Bousher, assignee of Abraham Eyestone, having deposited
in the Treasure a certificate of the Register of the Land Office of
Chillicothe, whereby appears that full payment has been made for the west half
of lot or section Number 2 of Township Number 10 in Range Number 20, of the
Lands directed to be sold at Chillicothe by the Active Congress entitled "An
Act providing for the sale and lands in the United States in the Territory
Northwest of the Ohio and above the mouth of Kentucky River," and of Acts
amendatory of the same. There is Granted by the United States unto the said
Jacob Bousher the half lot or section of land above described.
To Have and to Hold the said half lot or section of land with appurtenances
unto the said Jacob Bousher, his heirs and assigns forever.
In Testimony Whereof, I have caused the letters to be made Patent and the
seal of the United States to be hereto affixed. Given under my hand and seal
at the City of Washington the Seventeenth day of October, in the year of our
Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seven and of the Independence of the
United States of America the Thirty-second.
