Research Notes:
farmed, then later became separated from his wife, she leaving, taking their son Russell with her. George went to Elizabeth (John Jr's wife) to seek help in finding Rosa. Elizabeth told him to go to Rosa's sister's house when she was gone and look in her bedroom dresser for a letter from Rosa. George did and then convinced the reluctant Elizabeth to acompany him to Milwaukee, Wisc. They found Russell at a school, but George was carrying a gun which frightened Russell, who ran aaway. George and Elizabeth came back to Iowa, but soon George returned to Milwaukee, alone, where he was shot. The person committing the crime was never discovered [Ref: ShannonD SHANNON p68]
