In the time of William I there was a certain Baldwin, called "the sheriff,"
who was baron of the castle of Okehampton, Devon (Domesday Book, Devon), son
of Count Gilbert de Brionne, and sometimes known as Baldwin de Moles, de Sap,
de Brionne, and de Exeter (Stapleton, Magni Rot Scacc Norm). He gave to St.
Amand of Rouen the church of Moels of Meulles, in Calvados (Round, Cal Docs
