Research Notes:
his protracted feud with William Earl of Sutherland was submitted to a court at Dingwall for arbitration, but during the night he was murdered in the castle there, along with his eldest son, by Nicholas Sutherland of Duffus, brother of the earl [Ref: Thompson CharlesII v24-117]
