Research Notes:
identify of the wife of Ralph de Fougeres is given by Robert of Torigny in his Interpolations to The Gesta Normanmorum Ducum of Guillaume of Jumieges, where Robert names their sons as Fransualo, Henri, and Robert Gifard. The information is confirmed elsewhere [Ref: Keats-Rohan DP p332]

Gilbert de Warenne was described as 'patruus' of Walter Giffard of Weare. Unless 'patruus', paternal uncle, is being used for 'avunculus', maternal uncle, Gilbert must have been the product of another marriage of Avice de Clare, relict of Ralph de Fougeres [Ref: Keats-Rohan DD p776]
