resigned as Earl of Lennox, and obtained a new grant to himself and to the heirs male of his body with remainders to his daughter Isabel, her husband, and the heirs of their bodies [Ref: CP I p79]

although "an octogenarian" and apparently blameless, he shared in the downfall of his son-in-law Murdoch Stewart, Duke of Albany, the Regent, and was beheaded along with him and two grandsons [Ref: Thompson CharlesII v12-84]
