Welsh seem to have regained control of Oswestry during the lifetime of Maredudd ap Bleddyn, c1110-32; After his death William tried to recover the area. He was opposed by Madoc ap Maredudd, and it was not until after Madoc's death in 1155 that William was successful [Ref: Sanders Baronies p70]
