Will of Solomon Harsh, Deceased
Be it remembered that on this 26th day of June A.D. 1866, the last will and testament of Solomon Harsh Dec'd was brought into Court together with the subscribing witnesses, viz: A.R. Haines and R.H. Patterson, who being first duly sworn do upon their oathes say that they saw the testator sign his name to the end of said will and that at the time of signing the same he was of sound mind and memory, that he was of lawful age and free from restraint, and that they signed the same in his presence and at his request as witnesses, and the Court being fully satisfied that the said will was in all respects duly executed and attested, the same is admitted to Probate, testing hereby recorded.
And said will is in the words and figures following:
In the name of the Benevolent Father of All, I, Solomon Harsh of the County of Carroll, State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament.
Item First I give my beloved wife Hannah the use of my farm during her life time or so long as she remains my widow. Should she get married I then intend or will her to have no privilege than the law will allow her, that is her interest in the one-third. I further give or will my wife all the household and kitchen furniture, all provisions on hand, bedding and bed clothes, in fact everything pertaining to the house to make her comfortable. I further intend or will that she shall remain in the house so long as she shall live. I further intend or will my wife to keep all my cows and hogs on hand. I want or will all my farming utensils, tools of every description, my share and everything used as machinery or utensils to carry on farming sold at public vendue wagon harness etc., after my decease. I then want or will all my lawful debts paid by my executors whatever may have earned in my sickness death etc. The balance of money on hand or due me I want to be kept on interest by my executors util after the death of my beloved wife, at which time all of my real estate must be disposed of (which consists of the farm I now live on). When my farm is sold and all due me collected, I want or will it devised amongst my children as follows: To my son Andrew and his heirs, four hundred dollars ($400); to my son John's heirs (my grandhcildren) Solomon, Sarah, and Matilda, Four hundred Dollars as follows: to Solomon, Two Hundred ($200), and to each of the girls one hundred ($100); to my daughter Rebecca and her heirs Three Hundred Dollars ($300); to my son Benjamin and his heirs Three Hundred Dollars ($300); to my son Joseph's heirs, Amos, Hannah, Mary, and John, Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250), to each of the boys and one hundred dollars ($100) and to Hannah Mary fifty dollars ($50); to my son Daniel and his heirs Four Hundred Dollars ($400); to my son Samuel Fifty ($50) Dollars and to his son Samuel (my Grandson) one Hundred Dollars ($100); and to his son Jesse one Hundred Dollars ($100); and to my daughter Susana and her heirs three hundred dollars ($300). After the division as above named is completed and complied with, the balance of all the proceeds of my entire estate must be divided equally amongst my following children and their heirs, my son Andrew, my son John's heirs, my daughter Rebecca and my daughter Mary and my son Daniel.
I do hereby nominate and appoint Lazurus Lewis and Samuel Affer executors of this my last will and testament, hereby authorizing and empowering them to compromise, adjust, release and discharge in such manner as to them may seem proper the debts due me, and after my death they are to act in good faith as in the foregoing well set forth. I do hereby revoke all my former wills by me made.
