will dated Feb 3 1697/98, probated Dec 23 1700. names his only son John, daughters Ruth (Newman), Martha (Cogswell), Mary (Phillips) from whom Rev. Phillips Brooks Bishop of Massachusetts, and Wendell Phillips, and through them Oliver Wendell Homes, are descended. [Ref: EmersonPH EMERSON-1898 p24]
