friend of Demetrios I [Ref: Settipani LGA p127]
descendant of Artabazos I [Ref: Settipani LGA p127]
possibly adopted son of Mithridates II of Chios [Ref: Settipani LGA p127]
Diodore says that he was the son of his predecessor Mithridates II of Kios,
nevertheless Plutarque gives him as sone of Ariobarzanes. Lucien has him die
at 84 years old, indications of Plutarque leave him about 72 years. One
prefers in general the indications of Plutarque on his patronyme, but McGing
favors rather Diodore. Although it is difficult to rule while awaiting the
publication of the article that will concentrate on the question, it seems the
filiation of Plutarque is preferrable. [Ref: Settipani LGA p122]
