gift of $25,000 to Phillips Adacemy, Andover; $25,000 to Kenyon College in Ohio; $13,000 to Newburyport Public Library; $20,000 each to Massachusetts and Maryland Historical Societies; $140,000 to found the Peabody Academy of Sciences at Salem; $150,000 each to Harvard and Yale for Archaeological and Zoological museums; $1,250,000 to found and maintain the Peabody Institute of Baltimore; $1,000,000 to found a Coeducational Training School for Teachers in the city of Nashville,Tenn. $3,000,000 to Peabody Educational Fund for promoting education throughout the Southern States; #500,000 ($2,500,000) for public housing in London [Ref: PeabodySH PEABODY p100]
