Research Notes:
has been confused with a contemporary Samuel Smith, son of William Smith, who seems to have lived over the Ipswich border from Topsfield but who was an attendant at the Topsfield church where his children were baptized. The short and irregualar intervals between the baptismal records of sons and daughters of "Samuel Smith" makes the conclusion necessary that there were two Samuel Smiths connected with Topsfield in the early years of the sixteenthcentury [Ref: Davis TOWNE p33]
