Research Notes:
apparently a "falling out" between the two sets of children with the exception of Paulina. She stuck to her father during the family upheavals and he willed his house, implements, stock, crops, and most of the household furnishings to her. It appears that Paulina lived and took cae of her father until his death. The remainder of his estate was to go to his other children from his first marriage to Mary Reid. No mention is made of the children by Mary McClung, or of her. There evidently was a court contest made about his will, for it had not yet been settled in 1855 when the daughter, Lucinda, died leaving her share of her father's estate to her brothers and sisters "when that estate is settled."
