Research Notes:
Surname likely either STACY or CLARK. Her daughter Sarah, in a letter written just before her death, referred to her "Cousin Symond Stacy". Symond was son of Simon STACY (of Bocking, co Essex) and Elizabeth CLARK (of Theydon Garnon, co Essex) daughter of Stephen CLERKE; he married Sarah WALLIS, and in his will he mentioned Cornett John WHIPPLE. Ann, sister of Symod STACY Jr, died unmarried and in her will, dated 13 Feb 1681/2, made her "cousin" Capt John WHIPPLE her executor. It seems apparent that either Elder John WHIPPLE or his wife Susanna was brother or sister to Symon STACY Sr or his wife Elizabeth CLARK (and Elder John WHIPPLE had no brother nor sister who married a STACY or CLARK). Since the STACY family was also from Bocking, it is most likely that Susanna was a member of that family, though she may have been a CLARK. [Ref: Holman PILLSBURY p46]
