mentioned his grandfather, Robert, when he made a gift sometime between 1203-1206 to Kirkstead abbey; among the witnesses was John abbot of Fountains 1203-9. These facts prove there were only two lords of Nocton called Thomas in the twelfth century. [Ref: Sanders Baronies p67(8)]
