kinsman of the king (William the Conqueror, DP p448) and of Bishop Remigius of Lincoln (Keats-Rohan DP p448), but the epitaph actually referred to William, son of Walter, in those terms, and by "king" it refers to William II [Ref: Bevan DP++ p448, Keats-Rohan DP p448]

a slip in Domesday People made Walter of royal stock, when it is quite clear that it is his son [Ref: Keats-Rohan DPRevisited p5]
