Walter Lee Sheppard, Jr. "Sir Nicholas de Loveyne and his Two Wives. I" The Genealogists' Magazine 15:254-255 :
"2. Abstract of the will of Sir Nicholas de Loveyne, (Drake, Hundred of Blackheath p. 147): He bequeathed to his wife Margaret {de Vere}; to his son Nicholas, then under age, 3000 marks owed him by the king; to his daughter Margaret. Small bequests tp: John, Lord Beaumont; to Henry and Thomas Beaumont; to the Hon. Lady Mohun [Joan, daughter of Bartholomew, Lord Burghersh and wife of John, 2nd Lord Mohun. Drake also notes that Joan, wife of Sir John de Northwode, was a sister of Bartholomew, Lord Burghersh. Thomas and Roger de Northwode held property in the manor of Ospreng which had belonged to Sir John Pulteney, but was held by Sir Nicholas de Loveyne j.u. (Cal. Inq. XI, Nos. 147, 149). Cal Inq. X No. 623, on Robert de North wode (writ 26 July 34, Edw. III) shows that he held Gatton of Sir Nicholas de Loveyne of his manor of Ospreng, Kent. Thomas de Northwode, his son and heir, 'is 26+']. Sir Aubrey de Vere, brother of his second wife; Sir Edward Barkle (Barklow?); Sir John Pekbrugge (his brother-in-law and one of his executors); Sir Reginald Malins, 'my cousin, a silver cup with my arms'; Sir Bernard Brocas; Sir Edward St. John; Sir Robert Belknap; and Sir John Loudham, clerk. Prayers to be said fot the souls of Dame Katharine St. John and of Roger her son, 'whose inheritance I have gotten'. Filed at Lambeth Palace 'Nicholas de Loveyn, knt. Poplar St. My de Graces, Mdsx; Penhurst, Kent; Notfield,Bristowe, Surrey; co Camb. Oxon. 1375 86 Sudbury'.
