Miss Jean Bloomquist, Dr. James McBath Wed in Arlington Heights; Father Officiates
Before an altar decorated with white gladili, pompons and carnations, Miss Jean Bloomquist became the bride of James H. McBath on Saturday afternoon, July 6.
Officiating clergyman at the single-ring ceremony was the bride's father, Rev. Dr. Paul W. Bloomquist, formerly pastor of Embury Methodist Church. He was assisted by Rev. Arthur E. Hagberg.
The bride is daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bloomquist of Arlington Heights, Ill., formerly of Freeport, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl A. McBath of Watertown, S.D.
Arlington Heights Methodist Church in Arlington Heights, Ill., was the scene of the ceremony. Wedding music was played at the organ by Mrs. Leo C. Reeve.
Frosted With Lace - Peau d'ange lace frosted the midriff and bordered the lower edge of the skirt of the bridal gown on ivory peau de soie worn by the bride. The bell-shaped skirt with chapel-length train was topped with a flat bow and Dior rose.
The bride's imported silk illusion veil was held by a circle headpiece, fashioned of the ivory peau.
In the bridal retinue were Miss Frances Fletcher of Charleston, W. Va., as maid of honor and Misses Paul and Ann Bloomquist, sisters of the bride, as bridesmaids.
Gowns of Avacado - They wore gowns of avocado silk organza with matching headpieces and carried nosegays of apricot carnations and white daises.
Dr. Nicholas M. Cripe of Indianapolis was best man, and the ushers and groomsmen were Dr. Glen E. Mills of Evanston, Dr. George Ziegemueller of Indianapolis and Richard Markus of Cleveland.
After the ceremony, guestes were received in thr church parlors, where white roses and moss green ribbons trimmed the tables, skirted in white. Assistants were Mrs. James Kosmondi, Mrs. John Baltz, Mrs. Jack Ross and Miss Susan Westerberg.
In Los Angeles - The couple left on a honeymoon trip to the West Coast. They are making their first home at 4520 Santa Rolisa Drive, Los Angeles, Calif.
An alumna of Freeport High School, the bride received her B.A. degree from Knox College in Galesburg and her M.A. from Northwestern University. She was formerly an instructor at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. McBath received his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. he is the professor of speech and director of forensics at the University of Southern California. [Ref: Margot Dudewicz 7/28/2005]

James H. McBath; Hosted TV Debates
James H. McBath, professor of communication arts and sciences at USC and former moderator of a nationally televised debate program, has died at 69.
He died Tuesday of a heart attack, which occurred shortly after he lectured students on argumentation theory, a USC spokesman said.
Hired by USC in 1956 as director the Trojan Debate Squad, McBath was moderator of a weekly NBC series during the 1960s called "Championship Debate."
He was former president of the American Forensics Assn. and editor of its journal, and former president of the Western Speech Communication Assn. and the Assn. for Communication Administration. He received the distinguished service award from the he Western Speech group in 1991.
At USC, McBath was former chairman of the Communication Arts and Sciences Department and former president of the Faculty Senate.
In Pasadena, he had served as president of the school board.

McBath, James H. was born in South Dakota on October 24, 1922; passed away in Los Angeles on January 16, 1992. Survived by his children: Margot, Douglas, and Janet McBath. He was a professor at USC for many years.
Funeral services will be 4pm, Sunday, January 26, 1992, at the First United Methodist Church, Pasadena. A second memorial service will be Thursday, February 6, a the Methodist Church at USC. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Distinguished Lecture Series, USC, Dept. of Communication Arts and Sciences, Los Angeles County High School for the Performing Arts, Cal State Los Angeles, or the Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund, 2486 E. Pasadena, Calif. - Memorial Services for former Watertown, S.D., resident James H. McBath, 69, Pasadena, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, in the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena.
A second memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in the United Methodist Church at the University of Southern California. Burial of his remains will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Watertown at a later date.
The family requests any memorials to be directed to the Distinguished Lecture Series, USC, Department of Communication Arts and Sciences, Los Angeles County High School for the Performing Arts, Cal State L.A. or the Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund, 2486 E. Mountain St. Pasadena, Calif. 91104. The Turner-Stevens-Edwards Mortuary of Pasadena is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. McBath was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Watertown to Earl and Edna (Harvey) McBath. He was a professor at the University of Southern California for many years.
