Research Notes:
Was born in Washington County, NY, and received his education there. Like four of his brothers, he became a physician and migrated to Southwestern Pennsylvania when he reached manhood. After his marriage he seems to have lived first at Wilkinsburg (now Wilkins), Fayette County, PA. Later he resided at Monongahela City, West Newton, and finally at Smithfield (or Woodbridgeton). (Woodbridgeton is so close to Smithfield and is so small a community that in old records his address might have been given as Smithfield, even though he seems actually to have lived at Woodbridgeton.) Jane Caldwell Todd, his mother, died at his home in 1831, and is buried in the yard of the Old Frame Church, not far away. [Ref: Jackman TODD p13]
