Research Notes:
It has been previously assumed that Joan Lewknor was daughter of Sir Thomas Lewknor and Philippa Dalyngrigge, but some recent research indicates that she was actually daughter and heir of Dame Elizabeth Lewknor, nee Echingham. [Ref: Rosie Bevan SGM 7/29/2001-064528]

chancery court case PRO C1/19/280-290 states that Joan and Elizabeth are sisters and their mother was Alice Batisford, and they sued their cousin Richard Fiennes for part of the manor of Buckholt which was the Batisford estate. [Ref: Smith ECHYNGHAM p26]
