English counties, and for 24 years Sheriff of Westmoreland [Ref: Watney WALLOP

1203-4: custody of Appleby and Brough, co Westmorland, was granted for

1214: opposed the grant of the barony of Tickhill to Ralph de Lusignan; Robert
claimed thehonour by right of his wife Idonea. In 1217 Robert was ordered to
surrender the estate. In 1219 the tenants were commanded to receive Alice,
Countess of Eu, as their overlord. Robert resisted this grant, and a lawsuit
went before the courts from 1220 until 1222 when Alice was declared true
