Last Will and testament of John Williams late of Vernon Township deceased,
Registered 27 February 1843, James Fortely
I John Williams of Vernon Township Crawford County and State of Pennsylvania
do make and publish the following as my lat will and testament. First to my
wife Mary is to have one bed bedding and bedstead and one cow to be kept on
the place for her use also ten pounds of wool in rolls yearly also all the
land I own south of the Brighton Road together with that part south of said
Road joining Conrad Holl's land is to be held and bound for her comfortable
maintenance and funeral expenses.
Second to my son William M Williams to have and to hold all my right and
title to the one equal half of a lot of land lying south of the Brighttleson
Road which was purchased of J Shattock by me to be divided by a line in the
center from the public road to the south line and his share to be on the west
and he is to pay my daughter Hannah Huff heirs twenty dollars equally divided
between them.
Third my son John Williams to have and to hold all my right and title to the
other half of said lot south of the public road and lying east of that given
to William M Williams and he is to pay to Amberson Williams twenty five
dollars one half to be paid in produce.
Fourth my son David Williams to have and to hold all my right and title to
the following described piece of land Beginning not to exceed two and a half
perches east of the south west corner of the land I bought of Wm Gotten thence
running southwardly along the fence of the two first fields as they now stand
then continuing the same to the public road thence eastward along said road to
the south east corner of that log of land I bought of Isaac Mather thence
north to the north line of the whole tract thence westwardly along the line of
the whole tract to the place of beginning, also that piece of land I bought of
William Gotten.
Fifth to my son James Williams to have and to hold all my right and title to
the following described piece of land beginning where David Williams commenced
thence running west along the north line of the whole tract far enough to
contain as many acres as there is in those two pieces given to David Williams,
thence south to the south line of my land thence east to the north east corner
of Andrew Heiler's land thence south to my public road thence eastwardly along
the public road to David Williams corner thence along David Williams line to
the place of beginning that part of land lying west of that given to James to
be divided equally between James and David Williams.
Sixth also I allow(?) to my sons James and David equally all my Horses
Cattle Sheep and Hogs farming utentials subject to the following conditions
they are to be equally bound for the payment of all my honest debts also the
maintenance of their Mother as above named also to pay to my daughter Mary
Collins twenty dollars in produce also they are to give to each of my
daughters Susan Harriot and Nancy one Cow and six Sheep.
Seventh all the grain now threshed and that in the ground I allow for the
use of my family.
Eighth the household and kitchen furniture to remain in the house for the
use of my family at present.
Ninth my daughters Susan Harriot and Nancy I allow each to have a bed
bedding and bedstead when they leave the family and I do constitute my sons
William and James Williams to be the Executors of this my last Will and
Testament.
In Testimony of which I have subscribed my name this seventeenth day of
January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three.

Personally appeared before me the subscriber Register in and for said County
Hugh Gotten and William Gotten the subscribing witnesses to the written
instrument purporting to be the last will and testament of John Williams late
of Vernon Township decd, whereupon they solemn oaths depose and say that they
were present and saw the testator thereon named sign his name to thereto and
that they signed as witnesses in his presence at which time we believe he was
of sound and disposing mind to the best of their judgments and belief. Hugh
Gotten, William Gotten. Sworn and subscribed before me this 27 th Feb 1843.
