During the War of 1812 he served as captain in the 2nd Regt. 1st Brigade, Pa. Militia under Col. Adam Ritscher. His company was in service from Sep 1 1814 to Mar 5 1815 at York, Pa. and at the defense of Ft. Baltimore. [Ref: Chamberlain TODD]

He was ruling elder of the Hanover Church until 1840 when he moved to Granville, IL [Ref: Chamberlain TODD]
