From the Lima News, 4/6/2010:
Lima - Louella Gertrude Hofsteter, 81, of Columbus, formerly of Lima, died April 4, 2010, following a battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Allen County to Rolla O. and Evalyn M. Bowsher, who preceded her in death. She married Roy Hofsteter, who died in 2003.
Mrs. Hofsteter was a 1946 graduate of Shawnee High School. She received a bachelor's degree in music from Capital University and a master's degree from The Ohio State University. She taught in Columbus schools for 33 years. As a part of the Arts Impact Program, she introduced many area adults to their first appreciation of music as children over the FM radio intercom in each elementary classroom in Columbus. She was an accomplished violinist and played several other musical instruments. She and her husband had an abiding interest in classical music and cooking. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Capital University Alumnae Chapter, The Ohio State University Alumni, Phi Beta Fraternity of Music and Speech, Central Ohio Chapter of Pi Lambda Theta and Ohio Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. She was a Jennings Scholar from 1968 to 1969 and was listed in Who's Who of American Women in 1974 to 1975.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hofsteter and Dr. Grace Hofsteter; a brother-in-law, John Seiling; two nephews, Andrew (Becky) Seiling and Peter Seiling; a niece, Jennie (Ricky) Childers; and a great-niece and -nephew, Tara and Christopher Carolus.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marilynn Bowsher Seiling, who died in 1983.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Schoedinger East Chapel, Columbus. Pastor Tom Wolfe will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley, OH.
