In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Patton, of Washington Township, Lafayette County, Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory, and understanding, and blessed be God for the same, do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. Item 1. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses including suitable gravestones for myself and wife be paid by my executor hereafter named. Item 2. I will and devise to my son J Findley Patton, the farm upon which I now reside containing 134 acres more or less, also all my personal estate after the payment of those things specified in clause first. Item 3. I will and direct that my said son Findley, in consideration of the foregoing requests, shall maintain his mother during her natural lifetime and provide her sufficient house Room in the House in which I now reside, together with all things that may be necessary for her health and comfort, and in addition thereto he is to pay her one hundred dollars annually as long as she shall live, and this request shall be in lieu of her dower and interest at law in my estate. Item 4. I further direct that my said son Findley in consideration of the foregoing requests pay to his following brothers and sisters, viz: Rebecca Findley, R J Patton, Harriet Mereseman, and Rachel P Brown, the sum of seven hundred dollars each, and to J M Patton, the sum of four hundred dollars, he having already received three hundred dollars. And to Sarah Boyd the sum of six hundred dollars, she having already received one hundred dollars, all said legacies to be had for them three years after my decease. Item 5. I will and bequeath to my son Thomas Patton all of the real estate that I own in the State of Iowa supposed to be four hundred acres. Item 6. The residue of the coal underlying the above named farm I will and direct to be divided into nine equal shares or parts, and that my son Findley to have two of said shares or parts, and the other seven shares or parts to my other seven children, share and share alike.
