Will given in Fayette County Will Book 4 page 484:
In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Patton, of Washington Township, Lafayette
County, Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory, and understanding, and
blessed be God for the same, do make publish and declare this to be my last
will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at
any time heretofore made. Item 1. I direct that all my just debts and
funeral expenses including suitable gravestones for myself and wife be paid by
my executor hereafter named. Item 2. I will and devise to my son J Findley
Patton, the farm upon which I now reside containing 134 acres more or less,
also all my personal estate after the payment of those things specified in
clause first. Item 3. I will and direct that my said son Findley, in
consideration of the foregoing requests, shall maintain his mother during her
natural lifetime and provide her sufficient house Room in the House in which I
now reside, together with all things that may be necessary for her health and
comfort, and in addition thereto he is to pay her one hundred dollars
annually as long as she shall live, and this request shall be in lieu of her
dower and interest at law in my estate. Item 4. I further direct that my
said son Findley in consideration of the foregoing requests pay to his
following brothers and sisters, viz: Rebecca Findley, R J Patton, Harriet
Mereseman, and Rachel P Brown, the sum of seven hundred dollars each, and to J
M Patton, the sum of four hundred dollars, he having already received three
hundred dollars. And to Sarah Boyd the sum of six hundred dollars, she having
already received one hundred dollars, all said legacies to be had for them
three years after my decease. Item 5. I will and bequeath to my son Thomas
Patton all of the real estate that I own in the State of Iowa supposed to be
four hundred acres. Item 6. I hereby appoint my son J Findley Patton
executor of this will. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal
this the eleventh day of March 186-. Thomas Patton.
Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Thomas Patton, as
and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us who have hereunto
subscribed our names at his request as witness thereto in the presence of the
said testator and each other. Hiram Patton, John Fuller.
I Thomas Patton, the above named testator, being of sound and disposing
mind, and memory, do make the following alteration in the foregoing Will, viz:
I will and direct that my said son Findley pay to his mother five hundred
dollars in addition to what she is to get by the foregoing will, said five
hundred to be paid at my decease. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this the 30 day of July 1868. Thomas Patton.
Signed, sealed, published, and declared by the above named Thomas Patton as
his will in our presence, Hiram Patton, John Fuller.
I Thomas Patton, the foregoing named testator, being of sound and disposing
mind and memory, do make the following alteration to the foregoing Will, viz:
Since making said will the coal underlying the farm upon which I now reside
and which I gave to my son Findley, in the foregoing Will has become of more
value at that time, I will and bequeath unto the said Findley Patton ten acres
of the coal underlying the house in which I now reside. The residue of the
coal underlying the above named farm I will and direct to be divided into nine
equal shares or parts, and that my son Findley to have two of said shares or
parts, and the other seven shares or parts to my other seven children, share
and share alike. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
the twelvth day of April 1893. Thomas Patton.
Signed sealed and published by the said Thomas Patton the testator to be his
last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto set our names
as witnesses thereto in the presence of the testator and at his request.

Fayette County, SS: Be it known that on this the second day of March, A.D.
1894, before me J Beatty, Register of the Probate of Wills and Granting of
Letters of Administration in and for said County personally came John Fuller
and Hiram patton, the subscribing witnesses of the foregoing will of Thomas
Patton, decd, (and also to the two alterations or codacils thereto annexed)
who being duly qualified according to law depose and say that they were
present and say the said Thomas Patton sign and seal, and heard him declare
the same to be his last will and testament, when of sound and disposing mind
and memory, to the best of their belief, that they signed their names as
witnesses thereto by the request of the said testator in his presence and in
the presence of each other, that they knew of no undue influence used in
making said will, also that they were present and saw the said Thomas Patton
sign and seal each of the codicils to said will annexed at their respective
dates, and heard him declare the same to be parts and parcels of his last will
and testament, when of sound and disposing mind and memory, to the best of
their belief, that they signed their names to each of the said codicils as
witnesses thereto, on the respective dates thereof, by the request of the said
testator in his presence and in the presence of each other, that they knew of
no undue influence in the making of said codicils or any later will or
codicils made. In Witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal of
the Registers Office at Uniontown the day and year above written. Joe Beatty.
