Melvin V. Loar, 64, a resident of Seaside for 18 years, died Saturday at Community Hospital after being stricken at home.
Mr. Loar was born Jan. 30, 1920 in Graysville, Pa. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II, serving in the South Pacific from 1941-1946.
He moved to Seaside in 1966 from Washington, Pa. He was self employed as a gardener and was a member of the Monterey Peninsula Gardeners Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A.; daughter Carol Ann of Seaside; sister, Betty Simonelli of Avella, Pa.; brother, Delbert of Washington, Pa; and s everal nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a. m. at the Paul Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Clarence Foster of the Marina Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Burial will be in Mission Memorial Park, Seaside.
Friends may call at the mortuary to pay final respects today from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m.
