In the name of God, Amen. I James Clemens of Donegal Township, Washington
County, State of Pennsylvania, being weak of body, but of sound judgment and
perfect memory, blessed be God for all his mercies, calling to mind the
mortality of my body, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, and
do dispose of my worldly estate, wherewith it pleased God to bless me with, in
the manner following: that is first of all recommend my soul to God who gave
it and my body to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors and
that all my funeral charges and legal debts be discharged.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah Clemens as the law
directs.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my beloved sons, viz, Jeremiah, William,
Abraham, John, James, and Ezekiel Clemens all my land lying in the state of
Virginia to be equally divided among the above-mentioned six persons, both in
quantity and quality. I also will that John Caldwell, John Boggs and Walter
Denney divide said land lying in the state of Virginia to the above-mentioned
heirs and said division to be final and deeds granted to each of said heirs
from the original deed according to said division.
Item, I bequeath to my beloved daughters, Christian and Ann Clemens the sum
of thirty pounds each.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my beloved daughter Ruth Clemens the quantity
of twenty-five acres of land adjoining Samuel Williamson's and James
Brownlee's land and five pounds in money, when my plantation I now live on is
sold.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my beloved daughters, Amelia, Hannah and
Hester Clemens the sum of forty pounds each.
Item, I will that James and Ezekiel Clemens as soon as conveniency will
admit of to be sent Jeremiah Clemens and there to receive one year's schooling
and their schooling and expenses to be raised out of their own part of the
estate and then to be put to such trades as they shall choose.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my son John Clemens one black colt and it to
be raised out of the rent.
Item, I will that my land in the state of Pennsylvania be rented out for
the term of two years so that said plantation shall be put in good tenantable
repair and the expenses of said repairing shall be paid out of the rent and
then to be sold at the discretion of my executors and then the legatees to
such as are come of age to be paid off, the legatees of such as are under age
to be put to use until they are of age.
Item, I will and bequeath that whatsoever remains after the leagtees and
all other costs whatsoever is discharged out of my property in the state of
Pennsylvania shall be equally divided between John, James and Ezekiel Clemens.
Item, I leave and bequeath to my son, William Clemens, the plough gears and
hoes and the bald-faced mare until she raises a colt for his son, James, and
then said mare to be sold and the money to be for the use of the estate.
I do hereby make, ordain, constitute and appoint Leaven Williams and
Eleazer Williamson executors of this my last will and testament, and lastly I
do hereby revoke, disallow, disannul all and every other will and testament at
any time heretofore made declaring this and only this to be my last will and
testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
twenty-first day of September one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five 1795.

Williams, 5 pounds; Ann Craig, late wife of Thomas Criag, 30 pounds; Pamela
Williams, wife of Charles Williams, 40 pounds ... there was a yearly colt
willed by James Clemens to his son James which colt was left with this
deponent ... his brother James Clemens went to Kentucky and when the colt was
about 3 years old he sent for it by a certain John Wright who got the colt ...
