killed by the Vikings in 880. The necrology of Gandersheim gives his date of death as 6 March. However, Thietmar of Merseburg places the battle on a 2 February, and this appears to be confirmed by the nerologies of two bishops who were slain there [Ref: HenryII liudo000 4/3/2011]
