ancestry is unknown, but he was probably a younger son of the previous
Pharaoh. His name matches the founder of the dynasty, and he succeeded
Takelot II regularly in the presence of other of Takelot's sons that continued
to exercise high functions under his reign [Ref: Settipani LGA p163]
probably benefitted from the absense of Osorkon, elder son of Takelot II,
at the time of death of Sheshonq III. Prince Osorkon waged war in the
south, and the Egyptian law reserved the crowning to the one that
proceeded the funeral of the sovereign [Ref: Settipani LGA p163]
